THE COLLEGE SONG (in Lithuanian)

The Kaunas Jesuit School was founded in 1649 by the Jesuit Order on a plot of land situated near the Town Hall Square. In 1702 it became a Collegium. In 1824, when Lithuania was occupied by Russia, the Church was transformed into Orthodox Church. In 1923, Jesuits came back to Kaunas and the first Mass was celebrated in the restored church in May of 1924. The School was opened in autumn of the same year.

In 1940, the Kaunas Jesuit School was closed again by the Soviet government, and only in 1991 was it returned to the Jesuits.

Now, old traditions based on the vaues of Christian humanism are being revived and new ones are being created. At present, the student body consists of more than 640 children, from 10-18 years of age. They are taught by 56 teachers.
